Synopsis, Storyboards, Concept Art

Hi Class,

Today at 2pm, our client Amy Fitzpatrick from the City of Hope will come to the studio to review the following materials on your project blogs:

• synopsis
• storyboards
• concept art (character designs, background and other visual assets, color palette, etc.)

We will make the blogs visible to Amy and review your work in class at 2pm.

In order to get used to working with a client, we will observe the following professional protocol:

• Introduce yourself: select one member of your team to be the spokesperson/point of contact for Amy. This person will introduce themselves and the team ("Hello, my name is ......and I will be your contact for ....... Studios. It's a pleasure to meet you and we look forward to creating something we hope you will be able to use for City of Hope's support campaign."

•  Indicate that you have reviewed the client materials that Amy sent previously, including her notes, and that, based on that information, you have come up with the following pitch for a 30-second PSA for City of Hope (tagline)

• Identify the part of COH's identity/mission that you wish to focus on with regards to fundraising efforts.

• Present concept art, relating the design and color palette to you message.

• Present storyboards (use present tense verbs and visual continuity phrasing: "cut to," "zoom in," etc.

• Ask for client feedback: LISTEN. Ask questions based on her feedback: "So would you like us to focus more on...?" "How do you feel about?" "So if I understand you correctly, you're looking for...?"

• Important not to argue with a client: if you feel that they don't understand something, ASK QUESTIONS rather than disputing a point.

• Be clear about what you have understood from the feedback and let her know that changes will be implemented by the following week and that your contact person will NOTIFY HER by e-mail as revisions are posted.

• Thank the client for her feedback.
